When our featured couple of the week, Dorothy Chen and Teddy Hsiung, got engaged, their biggest hurdle was figuring out exactly where they would tie the knot. With their immediate families living in Taiwan and their own home base in New York City, they decided the best option was to meet in the middle — in California’s wine country.
What happens when a wedding planner gets engaged to the man of her dreams? In Carrie Rosenow’s case, it meant personally planning the wedding of her dreams. When her boyfriend, Matthew Darling, proposed at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, she quickly ditched the idea a beach wedding in their home state of Florida and opted for the fairtytale-worthy venue.
Oh, Lake Tahoe. What is it about you that has us falling in love every time? Your snowcapped peaks? Serene water? Alluring landscape? Yes, yes and yes. This week’s featured wedding is a perfect example of the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Just look at all these creative details! Bay Area couple Angela Lin and Jeremy Webster envisioned a summer-carnival-themed affair near their vacation home in Lake Tahoe. With the help of planner Stephanie Anderson of One Fine Day Events, they found the perfect lakefront venue — Fairwinds Estate — to showcase their casual, playful personalities while also sharing a vacation with loved ones.
Pennsylvania couple Jennifer Krug and Scott Kesler dreamed of an intimate Caribbean beach wedding, but wanted to make their faraway affair as affordable as possible for their nearest and dearest. With budget in mind, the couple set their sights on an all-inclusive resort — namely Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa, in the peaceful seaside town of Tulum, Mexico.
Durham, North Carolina, natives Kate Brumfield and Lee Souto envisioned a lush outdoor wedding on the water — close enough for all their loved ones to attend, but far enough that it would still feel like a vacation. Having visited the Outer Banks of North Carolina — about 250 miles from their hometown — together in the past, they knew it would be the perfect locale for their big day.
Our featured couple, Alexandra Heliotis and Michael Meseke, knew in order to have the rustic wedding of Alexandra’s dreams, they’d have to look for a locale outside of their West Village neighborhood of New York City. Envisioning a relaxed and rustic wedding, they began searching for the perfect barn venue.
