The Ahwahnee Hotel - Yosemite National Park, California
Opened in 1927, this eclectic hotel blends decor elements such as Native American art, enormous stone fireplaces, high ceilings crossed with wooden beams, and grand stained-glass windows. Accommodations comprise 99 standard guest rooms, 24 cottages (two with fireplaces) and six suites (the El Dorado Diggins suite features the only spa tub in the park). With the hotel’s menu of adventures like hiking, biking, rock climbing and rafting, your guests will find it hard to stay indoors.
Ceremony Make Glacier Point and Yosemite Falls your backdrop when you wed on the manicured Wedding Lawn under the shade of evergreens. In rainy weather, book the covered East Terrace, with its airy two-story ceiling and stained-glass windows granting views of the surrounding conifer forest.
Reception Choose from banquet halls like the Winter Club Room (adorned with historic photos, snowshoes and wooden skis), the Mural Room, with its stone-walled patio, and the Under Lounge (seats 200). For an alfresco cocktail spot, the private West Terrace is idyllic, while a reception is lovely in the original half-circle-shaped Solarium (seats 90), featuring iron chandeliers and arched French doors that open to picturesque terraces. — Nora Zelevansky
