Unique Wedding: The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art

The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art - Sarasota, Florida

Surrounded by vintage circus posters proclaiming the daredevil acts of lion tamers, human cannons and the famous Flying Wallendas, your wedding will be the second “Greatest Show on Earth” at this circus museum. “We’ve had weddings with old-fashioned popcorn machines, snow cones and even cotton candy,” says Stevie Ramsey, special-events coordinator.

Unique Wedding: Annaberg Plantation

Annaberg Plantation - St. John, USVI

Say I do at a hilltop sugar-mill ruin, one of more than 100 sugar and cotton plantations that once dotted St. John. The scenic site sits on national parkland donated by Laurance Rockefeller (yes, of those Rockefellers). Next to the 40-foot tower of an 18th-century windmill, your wedding party will have views of mountain valleys, Leinster Bay, the Sir Francis Drake Channel and the BVI. Weddings for up to 50 guests can be staged at the extensive ruins.

Unique Wedding: Concord Point Lighthouse

Concord Point Lighthouse - Havre de Grace, Maryland

Say I do at Chesapeake Bay’s northernmost lighthouse. With herb gardens and a granite keeper’s house, this historic beacon, first staffed by War of 1812 hero John O’Neill, was a working lighthouse until it was decommissioned in 1975. Weddings can be held after 5 p.m.

Unique Wedding: Desert Adventures, Eco-Tours & Events

Desert Adventures, Eco-Tours & Events - Palm Springs, California

Whoop it up in an Old West mining camp, part of the 840-acre Metate Ranch. Think antique wagons, three dance floors, a saloon, a livery stable and a jail, plus spectacular views of the Coachella Valley. Your guests can pan for gold, rope straw cows or get period pics taken at the Old Time Photo Studio. Want something even more original? Have your wedding inside the San Andreas fault or in the Cahuilla Indian Village, an archaeological site.

Unique Wedding: Old Post Office

Old Post Office - St. Louis, Missouri

You’ll get royal treatment at the circa-1884 Old Post Office, located just six blocks from the St. Louis Arch. At one time, hundreds of millions of letters were handled here, all by hand. Opened soon after the Civil War, this neoclassic landmark, which takes up an entire city block and is surrounded by a moat, has been restored to its former glory with art glass windows, red Italian Bologna marble and wall-to-wall tapestries of encaustic tile. Its atrium has a double skylight, a sculpture by Daniel Chester French (the artist who created the famous Lincoln Memorial statue in Washington, D.C.) and two grand stairwells.

Unique Wedding: Pearl Brewery

Pearl Brewery - San Antonio, Texas

A grand staircase with custom ironwork leads into the Victorian brick stables where the Pearl Brewery once kept its draft horses. Original 1890s architectural drawings were used to restore the cupola, chandeliers and box stalls of this elliptical masterpiece. After extensive renovation, the 22-acre property has been transformed into a foodie destination featuring several of San Antonio’s best restaurants, a farmers market and a Culinary Institute of America cooking school.
