Sweet Treats from Georgetown Cupcakes
November 7th, 2011
by Jessica Olama
If you stopped by our offices last week, you would’ve overheard comments that sounded a little something like this: “Ah-mazing.” “This is the best thing I’ve ever eaten.” “All other cupcakes are ruined for me now.” “Can I have another one?”
We had no trouble polishing off delicious cupcake flavors like Cookies and Crème, Coconut, Blueberry and PB Fudge, adorned with fondant monograms perfect for weddings. And it was all thanks to Georgetown Cupcake, who sent us this adorable box of treats in celebration of the special episode of DC Cupcakes: My Sweet Wedding, airing Friday, Nov. 11, at 10 p.m. on TLC.

The one-hour episode follows sisters and owners of the famous cupcake shop, Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne, as they plan Katherine’s own destination wedding at San Ysidro Ranch, A Rosewood Resort, in Montecito, California. Sophie takes on the usual matron-of-honor duties (including throwing a bridal shower full of surprises), not to mention creating a nine-foot cupcake tower made from 5,000 cupcakes frosted with champagne buttercream, fondant roses and edible pearls for Katherine’s big day. That’s the kind of cupcake creation we can’t wait to see!
In the meantime, congrats to Katherine and her new husband, Ben. As you can see by the smiles on our faces, we loved our sweets and are happy to celebrate with you any time!

Want to try the mouth-watering cupcakes for yourself? Click over to georgetowncupcake.com to order (they’re happy to fill custom orders and expertly ship across the United States — in our package, not a smidgeon of icing was smeared in transit). And be sure to check out The Cupcake Diaries: Recipes and Memories from the Sisters of Georgetown Cupcake, the sisters’ memoir and cookbook, available on Nov. 8, 2011.
