It’s a happy new year already for country superstar Shania Twain, the latest in a string of celebrities to tie the knot in a destination wedding. The five-time Grammy Award winner married business executive Frédéric Thiébaud in an intimate New Year’s Day ceremony, surrounded by 40 close friends and family members. Wearing a strapless satin gown from a small boutique in Switzerland, along with strappy Calvin Klein sandals and delicate Lorraine Schwartz jewelry to accent her veiled updo, the bride walked down the sandy aisle at sunset on the arm of her nine-year-old son, Eja.

The newly engaged couple only announced their plans to wed a month ago, but that was plenty of planning time for this jetsetting couple; the Canadian singer and her Swiss-born groom had their pick of exotic locales around the world, and they opted for the simplicity and understated elegance of a beachfront Caribbean wedding. Their pick? The shores of Rincon, Puerto Rico – and we can see why! We love Rincon so much that we shot a fashion feature there just last fall.
