On a recent trip to up-and-coming Playa del Carmen, Mexico, I had the pleasure of staying at the brand-new El Taj Oceanfront Condo Hotel. Its multilevel design, lush foliage and Balinese decor made me feel like I’d entered a veritable luxury treehouse, complete with a cascade waterfall and prime beach view.

1. We needed the location to be an easy drive from our Winter Park, Florida, offices.
2. The environment needed to be laidback and casual.

I had an absolute blast on a recent visit to Bimini Bay Resort in the Bahamas. The property is at the tip of the tiny island of Bimini, which is only seven miles long and a half-mile wide. I totally loved that the whole island is accessible by golf cart. It was easy to explore, and the people were friendly and welcoming.
