Greece has been getting some bad press lately thanks to issues with national debt, but nothing has changed about its gorgeous wedding backdrops and heartfelt service, showcased beautifully in this wedding of the week. The charming locale and dreamy shots are absolutely breathtaking — debt or no debt, we’re ready to hop on a plane to Greece right this instant!

Seattle-based couple Kayko Fukuda and Doug Schulze fell in love with the Greek island of Mykonos around the same time they were falling in love with each other — on a three-week Mediterranean trip. While vacationing in Mykonos, Kayko dreamed of marrying Doug at one of the isle’s 250 churches but kept the thought to herself. Once engaged, these travel lovers immediately knew they wanted to have a destination wedding. Kayko wistfully brought up Greece as a possible locale and was happy to find Doug was on board.

After some careful thought, they chose the family-owned Kivotos Club Hotel to host their 28 guests and wedding events. The boutique’s unique design, private beach, personalized service and convenient location were major selling points. Kayko took on wedding planning and, with the help of the Kivotos staff, orchestrated a gorgeous, intimate affair filled with Greek traditions and vibrant blue accents to highlight the Aegean Sea backdrop.

Details We Love:
Personal Touches
At the poolside reception, everyone sat together at one long rectangular table. What a great way to spend time with your guests! Another sweet detail: these cootie-catcher place settings filled with fun questions like “Where did the couple get engaged?” Cute!

Post-Wedding-Day Plan The day after the wedding, Kayko and Doug gathered with their guests for a “one-day anniversary cruise.” (How great is that name?!) The afternoon sail was filled with swimming, eating and taking in the island’s beautiful sights. Such a clever and relaxing way to spend your first day as a married couple with your loved ones!
