Celebrity Wedding: Lauren Bush and David Lauren's Western Fete
September 6th, 2011
by Jessica Olama
Congrats to Lauren Bush, niece of President George W. Bush, and David Lauren, son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren, on their Colorado destination wedding over the Labor Day weekend!
The wedding festivities — which spanned the long weekend and included a softball game and picnic — were held at Ralph Lauren’s expansive 17,000-acre Double RL Ranch, just outside Telluride, Colorado (you might’ve caught a glimpse of this awe-inspiring property when Oprah interviewed Ralph Lauren on the ranch earlier this year).
The Rocky Mountain backdrop was the inspiration for the lavish affair’s dress code, which People described as “black tie with a western twist.” The wedding’s 200 guests, including Ivanka Trump and Elizabeth Berkley, witnessed the sunset ceremony from carved wooden benches before moving to a nearby barn for a rustic western-style reception. Kudos to the couple for incorporating local style and tradition into their wedding aesthetic!
No word yet on where the couple will honeymoon, but in the meantime we’re doing our best to envision the “intricately embroidered Victorian-style gown” designed by the bride’s father-in-law. Perhaps he took some inspiration from the gowns in his Spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection?
Keep in mind, this isn’t Ralph Lauren’s first foray in bridal design: earlier this year he designed an elaborate duchesse satin and silk tulle gown for daughter Dylan Lauren. We’re holding out hope his brand will expand to include wedding dresses. He wouldn’t be the first designer to do so and there’s certainly a market for it! (Vera Wang, anyone?)

Their wedding is one of the fabulous wedding. The RL ranch is very sophisticated and the sunset brings a lot of emotions and colors to the ceremony.
