Celebrity Honeymoons: Reese the Trendsetter
April 19th, 2011
by Jessica Olama
Not only did Reese Witherspoon plant herself firmly in the trendsetting slot by wearing a blush pink Monique Lhullier gown at her recent Ojai, CA nuptials, but she just may have put a new spin on honeymoons. After tying the knot with talent agent Jim Toth at her ranch estate in Ojai, California, Reese and Jim packed up the kids (Ava and Deacon, from Reese’ previous marriage to Ryan Phillippe) and jetted off for a family-style honeymoon in Belize.
Their destination: a pair of lush-but-laid back eco resorts owned by director Francis Ford Coppola. Blancaneaux Lodge sits in the jungled forest reserve in western Belize, where activities include hiking, river tubing and visiting Mayan ruins. Beachfront Turtle Inn edges the Caribbean Sea, with an onsite dive shop and spa. Rooms at each are Balinese-chic, with appreciated touches like thatched roofs, hand-carved furnishings and minimal distractions from the outside world. Bonus: rates are as low as $285 per night in the summer.
