A Personalized (and Practical!) Bridesmaid Gift Idea
January 27th, 2012
by Lauren Clark
During all of the wedding planning, I’ve been keeping an eye out for amazing gifts for my pals who are going to be there for me on my special day. I wanted to give them a little “I love you” on the day of my shower, but couldn’t decide what. Knowing they were planning a girls’ night out (which I refuse to call a bachelorette party) for later that night, I wanted it to be something that would be cute at the shower, as well as useful through the rest of the festivities.
As I was scouring the Web, I came across SAM Designs, the website of Stephanie Miller, a glass painter who specializes in custom wine glasses. I saw a few examples, each one more adorable than the next. I knew in an instant my ladies each HAD TO HAVE one of her wine glasses.
The day my bridesmaids picked their dresses, I ordered the glasses for them (along with a manly pilsner groom glass for Tim). Ordering was super-easy — I sent Stephanie a picture of each bridesmaid dress, with each girl’s name and title (e.g., Matron of Honor), how I wanted the date printed and when I needed them by.
It was also important to me to include the other two most important ladies in my life — my mom and soon-to-be mom-in-law — in the fun. They hadn’t picked their dresses yet, so Stephanie suggested painting our wedding flowers on their glasses. PERFECT!
Lastly, I wanted one! (I’m part of the wedding party too, right?) The only problem was, if I had her paint my actual dress, I couldn’t use the glass in the days leading up to the wedding, since my dress design is a surprise for Tim. Stephanie had a solution for that issue too — she suggested she paint a glass for me with a fake dress that I could use before the wedding, as well as a second glass with my real dress for after the big day. She is a genius.
When I placed the order, I thought to myself, These are going to be super-cute — and when I got them, I literally teared up; they were so perfect.

On the day of the shower, I brought the glasses, expertly packaged in white boxes wrapped in pink raffia. My bridesmaids absolutely loved them, immediately filling them with mimosas and peach sweet tea. And the MOB and MIL adored them too, instantly busting out their cameras.

Have you ladies found anything amazing for your pals that you want to share?
