Motu Tetaraire, Tahiti
It’s the stuff of honeymoon dreams — basking on your own private motu (island) in a classic Tahitian villa, looking out to an impossibly blue lagoon. It doesn’t get much better than Motu Tetaraire (above), on Rangiroa Atoll in French Polynesia. The staff includes a boat captain ready to take you exploring and teach you how to spear your own fish, plus your own personal chef who will prepare it for dinner, as well as anything else your heart desires. Along with swimming and snorkeling you can kayak, go on a nighttime lobster hunt and visit nearby pearl farms.
Seabird Key, Florida
Only five minutes by boat from Marathon in the heart of the Florida Keys, the gorgeous 10-acre Seabird Key retreat feels a million miles from reality. After a meet-and-greet by the manager (who lives off the island but can be reached easily if neeeded), you’ll be left entirely alone to enjoy the romantic cottage, sun-drenched decks, tropical gardens, and an Adam-and-Eve outdoor shower. Cruise the Keys on the included 19-foot Boston Whaler, snorkel or dive nearby reefs and skinny-dip off the secluded beach. A chef can be arranged, but most guests bring their own provisions and cook for themselves.
